Various electronic products we use today are inseparable from circuit board processing in Yantai. In fact, circuit boards have been around us for many years. Today is Children's Day, and the editor wants to ride on this wave of nostalgia, taking everyone back to one of the circuit board electronic products we were most exposed to in our childhood——the Subor (Little霸王) gaming console. On the 10th of last month, the "Subor" team was officially disbanded, leaving behind a wealth of childhood memories. For most friends born in the 80s and 90s, although we have long passed the age of children, the music from the games, when heard occasionally, still warms our hearts. That music accompanied our childhood. The music playback and control of the gaming console, naturally, were also inseparable from the role of the circuit board. Below, the editor of Zhange dedicates this article to the childhood that we cannot return to, and the game music that once fueled our youth:
I. Super Mario
Actually, the background music for Super Mario has many variations, but the only one widely known is from World 1-1, the "dun dun dun dun dun dun" tune. Why is World 1-1 so catchy? Because many people never made it past the first level before getting "GAME OVER," and then they would re-enter the "dun dun dun dun dun dun" tune. I was one of those "many people." I spent two summer vacations trying to rescue Princess Peach, but in the end, I never even saw Bowser, the big demon king, before my childhood ended. In my memory, only the "dun dun dun dun dun dun" tune remains.
II. Contra
"Contra" has a total of eight levels. Each level is accompanied by electronic music with a strong rock style, assisting the thrilling combat and pushing the exciting gaming experience to the extreme. The mysteries within the game are still alluring, but now, we are no longer young.
III. Shadow Land (Legend of Kage)
The background music for "Shadow Land" is very simple, just one track with a few repeated tones, paired with a ninja movie-like musical style. It easily reminds people of "Golden坷垃" (a meme reference), and it's super catchy. The game itself is also very simple. The protagonist rescues the princess once in each of the four seasons——spring, summer, autumn, and winter——to complete the game. However, in the original design, the game developer did not intend for the game to end, envisioning "looping over and over again until the protagonist runs out of lives." Just like the game's background music, "looping over and over again"; just like our lives, "looping over and over again."
IV. Yie Ar Kung-Fu
Regarding this game, I think everyone has mixed feelings. The whole process had just one background setting, the character models looked like they were pinched from dough, and it was incredibly difficult——you'd get knocked down in just two hits. The game's background music was monotonous, lazy, and low-pitched; listening to it for two minutes felt like you could fall asleep soundly. Even if you found a friend to play against, the result was just having another person to fall asleep with. But the "di-dou, di-dou" sound remains so familiar.
Actually, there are many, many background music tracks that left a deep impression on us. We won't elaborate on them one by one here. On Children's Day, Yantai Zhange Electronics Co., Ltd. wishes all our customers and friends to retain a childlike heart, to be as happy and strong as when we played Subor as children. May friendship and strength always be with you.
