Through-Hole Mounting
Electronic components are inserted into the plated-through holes (PTHs) on the printed circuit board (PCB). This method facilitates the identification of double-sided printed PCBs. There are four types of PTHs on the circuit board: simple component insertion holes; holes for both component insertion and double-sided interconnection; simple double-sided interconnection holes; and holes for substrate mounting and positioning.
Direct Chip Mounting
Direct chip mounting technology can be considered a branch of surface mount technology (SMT). It involves directly adhering chips onto the printed circuit board and then interconnecting them to the board using packaging technologies such as wire bonding, tape automated bonding (TAB), flip-chip bonding, or beam lead bonding.
These two methods represent common approaches for mounting components on circuit boards. Yantai Zhan'ge Electronics Co., Ltd. recommends the second method, as it involves higher technical sophistication and ensures that the mounted electronic components fit snugly against the circuit board, thereby extending the board's service life.
